Press Release, April 26th, 2010 Dear Media Friends, With the Annual Solid / Hazardous Waste Conference slated for this week in Gatlinburg, Tenn., on Wednesday, April 28, we would like to take this time to "preview" two of this year's winners of the 2010 Governor's Environmental Stewardship Awards for Excellence -- one for the Hazardous Waste Reduction category and one for the Solid Waste Reduction category. Both companies are being recognized for their achievements and positive impact on the state's natural resources. Category: Hazardous Waste Reduction Tri State Distribution in Sparta, Tenn. White County Category: Solid Waste Reduction Knoxville Regional Medication Collection Program Knox County Each year, the Governor's Environmental Stewardship Awards program recognizes exemplary voluntary actions that improve or protect our environment and natural resources with projects or initiatives that are not required by law or regulations. This marks the 24th year for the awards program. Thirty-six professionals from various public and private organizations judged more than 100 nominations to determine the award recipients. The entire roster of 2010 GESA award winners will be announced in the coming months, with the annual awards ceremony slated for June 2010. We will certainly keep you posted on these awards. |
